As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 19,055 people, 6,250 households, and 5,062 families residing in the village. The population density was 975.8/km² (2,527.8/mi²). There were 6,403 housing units at an average density of 327.9/km² (849.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 90.30% White (62.8% were Non-Hispanic White,)[7] 1.72% African American, 0.12% Native American, 4.53% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 1.31% from other races, and 2.02% from two or more races. 29.66% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 6,250 households out of which 47.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.0% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.0% were non-families. 15.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.04 and the average family size was 3.39.
